Warrior
Chapter one
Katherine looked around her, realizing that there was not one soul watching her. Before thinking about it too much, she opened her door and left. Everyone was inside, safe from whatever they always warned her about, from whatever that lingered in the dark. So no one had noticed her, jumping over the wall of rocks that was merely three feet high and crumbling . The rocks were all crowded together, as if they were afraid of been left alone in the darkness. She told herself that she would go just a few feet beyond the boundary, just enough to see what the world looked like at night , but the curiosity took over her mind and with it, every thought of home.
She found it odd that she could see vividly from just starlight, but she did not ponder at that thought, deciding to stay a bit longer and rest on the large boulder. The world was at peace here. Nothing could go wrong.

Katherine looked around her, realizing that there was not one soul watching her. Before thinking about it too much, she opened her door and left. She told herself that she would go just a few feet beyond the boundary, just enough to see what the world looked like at night , but the curiosity took over her mind and with it, every thought of home.
She walked slowly towards a clearing, letting her eyes explore the landscape. In the moonless night the stars seemed brighter. Their light gave the forest an ethereal glow. Lighting it up slightly, revealing a small stream with a large boulder to its right and several flowers that bunched together whispering secrets among themselves: bright yellow daffodils and red poppies, blue violets and bushes of periwinkle lining the edge of the clearing, she could smell the flowery scent. The grass tickled her ankles and she felt bugs brush past her legs. She could feel the warm breeze on her skin, through her light summer dress, as it swept through her hair. She could hear the rustling of trees but no other sounds.
She found it odd that she could see vividly from just starlight, but she did not ponder at that thought, deciding to stay a bit longer and rest on the large boulder. The world was at peace here. Nothing could go wrong.
As she was about to close her eyes, she caught something glowing from her peripheral. Jumping away from the rock she saw a pair of eyes staring back at her from between the trees, they looked like tiny orbs of fire clashing with the forest scenery. Katherine felt a shiver creep up her spine. Her body tensed with wariness, recalling the words of caution she had heard all her life.
'stay away from the darkness Katherine.'
The eyes were still staring at her. She knew for a fact that the fiery orange orbs couldn't possibly be human. She, as any other human, felt fear of the unknown. The unknown could be dangerous, but venturing out in the dark could be too. She swallowed.

"H-hello?" She called out, her voice ringing in the silence. "Who's there? Please c-come forwa-"
"You should not venture out in the darkness."
The voice of a man. It sounded emotionless, eerie but oddly, beautiful at the same time.

"Who are you?" She replied standing up slowly, creeping closer."Show yourself.Who are you?"
"That is something you mustn't concern yourself with" He answered. Katherine tilts her head, the man now sounded... slightly annoyed."You must leave, the dark is dangerous"
"Why?"she asked taking yet another step closer. why. The question no one would answer. The leaves ruffles as the man stepped back.
"Stop! Don't come closer. You must leave this instant! I do not have time to entertain you at the moment!"He was getting more irritated.
Through the darkness, she could make out his silhouette. She could see he was rather tall and although he was well built, he had a lean torso. His stance was tense, like he was expecting something to jump out.
"What is your name?" Katherine persisted.
"Leave if you value your safety." She doubted he would do anything to her. Although a stranger, he emitted a sense of familiarity.
"I feel as if I know you." she voiced her thought.
Andrew cursed under his breath. The woman was simply stubborn. She would not listen. He had no doubt she was human, but still had that odd scent to her, one he could not quite put a finger on. Although she smelled mostly human, she had the looks of an angel. She was simply gorgeous. She had a beautiful body, which was willowy but still had the curves of a woman. Her waist length, midnight black hair fluttered in the breeze. Her face looked elven with its heart shape and sharp cheekbones with a small sharp nose. Her large doe eyes sparkled in the darkness, they were an alluring chocolate brown against her fair skin, but what was more interesting was the gold that rimmed her pupils and irises, the gold seemed to be swirling, which certainly wasn't human. He had never seen eyes like hers. His gaze never left those tantalizing eyes for long.
"Are you still there?" She asked.
Her voice seemed to snap him out of his daze and he cursed under his breath once again. He could not afford to let his guard down at the moment, but he could not deny the pull he felt towards the girl.
"I cannot protect us both. Please leave before...before they find you"
His voice had wavered. His words scared her but confused her too. She decided not to question him on it.
"Will you be here tomorrow?" She asked in a whisper.
"Will you leave if I told you?" He knew he was only making an excuse to see her again.
"Yes"
"I will be here in the morrow."
Feeling satisfied, Katherine whispered a small goodbye and started walking backwards away from the clearing, the stream, the silhouette.
"Goodbye" she whispered as she began walking backwards, away from those alluring eyes.
She barely caught a "Goodbye"as she was turning around and smiled to herself. She started to run back to her village, his words echoing in her head 'the morrow.the morrow.'

Just as the girl left his sight, Andrew heard a twig snap behind him. It was time to return to his duties, he thought letting out a sigh.
